About SkillUp Kerala

The Kerala State Rutronix initiative, titled 'SkillUp Kerala', has been conceptualized to execute the mandate received from the Higher Education Department, Govt. of Kerala. This mandate is to facilitate the establishment and operation of the Centre for Skill Development Courses and Career Planning (CSDCCP) centers across Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the state.

The ‘SkillUp Kerala’ initiative by Kerala State Rutronix is strategically designed to advance the national educational vision of Skill–Credit integration, often framed as the Skill–Intern–Credit model.

Core Mission of SkillUp Kerala

Its core mission is to set up and smoothly run CSDCCP centers across HEIs, and to actively promote the spirit of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The initiative equips students and institutions with the right awareness and support to blend practical vocational skills with academic learning at UG and PG levels. By bridging academics with real-world skilling, the program boosts employability and enables students to earn valuable skill credits

Key focus of SkillUp Kerala

The initiative focuses on three core operational areas to successfully establish and run the CSDCCP framework:

  • CSDCCP Implementation and Support:
    • Mandate Fulfillment: Facilitating the establishment and operation of the Centre for Skill Development Courses and Career Planning (CSDCCP) centers across Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the state.
    • Awareness & Technical Support: Providing awareness and necessary technical and administrative support to colleges and educational institutions for the effective campus-level implementation of the CSDCCP and the Skill-Credit framework.
  • State-Level Skill Credit Orientation:
    • Student Engagement: Organizing state-level student awareness programs focusing on practical vocational skills, internship opportunities, and credit-earning pathways that are integral to the new Four-Year Undergraduate Program (FYUGP) structure.
  • Unified Helpline System:
    • One-Stop Support: Establishing a single-window Helpline system accessible to both students and institutions.
    • Guidance and Assistance: This system will provide guidance, information, and technical assistance on critical areas, including admissions, internships, skill credit accounting, and overall CSDCCP operational activities.
